Description
Liquid ink shows up better and wipes off cleaner. The BIC Velleda is the marker you want when a play drawn beside the bench has to read first time.
Who it is for. For the coach who has already put up with an ordinary marker and watched it fade by midseason. The liquid ink system keeps the line as strong on the last day as on the first.
Features. Liquid ink whiteboard marker. Clean, even line and dry wipe-off that leaves no mark or shadow on the surface.
Quantity discounts. From two units the price per marker drops automatically. If you are kitting out the whole staff, look at the box of 10 as well.
Why Basketball Coaching Boards. Tested on our own boards, with shipping across Europe.
Frequently asked questions
Are the markers erasable or permanent?
For basketball coaching boards we use "velleda"/"whiteboard" markers: dry-erasable ink, ideal for correcting plays in real time. For permanent marks (labelling gear, jersey numbers), look for "permanent" markers — but NEVER use them on the board (they don't come off without alcohol, sometimes not even then). Each product specifies the type on its detail page. How long does a marker's ink last?
A BIC Velleda 1701 marker (medium tip) writes about 350-450 m of stroke — roughly 50-70 ninety-minute sessions with moderate use. To extend life, recap the marker immediately after each use (air dries the tip) and store it horizontally. If the ink fades but ink remains, shake the marker vertically for 10 seconds. Can the markers be refilled?
Most whiteboard markers (BIC Velleda 1701 and similar) are single-use: ink and body go together. Professional refillable models (Pilot V Board, EDDING 360) offer ink refills at 2-3 €. If you go through markers fast, the refillable model pays off; for occasional use, the disposable one is more cost-effective.My board got stained — how do I clean it?
For residual dry ink: soft eraser or microfibre cloth with a bit of 70% isopropyl alcohol. Rub in circles without pressing hard. For old stains, use a whiteboard cleaner (spray). For ink that has set for days, first draw over it with a fresh marker, wait 30 s, then erase — the new ink pulls up the old (the "ghost trick"). Do NOT use abrasive scourers: they scratch the surface.
