CASUAL TECH: a new material for the most demanding coaches
It was the first model we ever made, back in 2016. Ten years on, it takes a step forward: the Casual moves to fibreglass-reinforced thermoplastic composite.
CASUAL TECH orders ship from 25 August. We are switching to the new material and the first boards leave the workshop that week.
In 2016 the first coaching board we ever manufactured left our workshop: the Casual in wood, 23 × 32 cm, with a clip. It was our first model and the one we grew up with. Since then, thousands and thousands of coaches have run training sessions and games with it in their hands.
Today that board takes a step forward. It is called the CASUAL TECH and it comes in a new material.
Ten years, three decisions
In 2016 the Casual in wood was born, and it became our best-selling model.
In 2021 we launched the aluminium range. We wanted a more premium product, one that lasted longer and had a different presence on the bench. That bet paid off.
The wooden one was still waiting for the same treatment. Now its turn has come.
Why we chose composite
The CASUAL TECH is made of fibreglass-reinforced thermoplastic composite, 2 mm thick. It is a technical material, and you notice the difference in the hand before you read it on the spec sheet: more body, more rigidity, a solid board with presence.
What it gains:
- It does not splinter when knocked.
- The corners hold up to going in and out of the bag and to being dropped.
- It stands up to damp: it can get wet without the material deteriorating.
- It weighs slightly more, and that weight is exactly the stability you feel when writing.
More strength means a longer life. And a board that lasts longer is also more responsible consumption, in line with the circular economy.
What does not change
- The size: 23 × 32 cm, as always.
- The clip: still there, to carry your sheets on top of the board.
- The writing surface: exactly the same. It wipes clean easily with good-quality liquid-ink markers.
- The personalisation: club badge, colours, coach name and quotes.
- The price: unchanged.
And if you already own a Casual in wood
You do not need to do anything: it keeps the same warranty and does its job exactly as it did yesterday.
That board opened the way. It was there for thousands of training sessions and plenty of games decided in a time-out, and that is why we took our time before touching it. The CASUAL TECH is not here to replace it: it is here to continue it.
